Optical upgrade

The old first-class "Limburger-course" was getting on in years, and no longer had any visual appeal and the greens in particular could no longer be brought into the desired condition despite all kinds of maintenance measures. After about one year’s planning phase and two years of construction, the course was completely renovated and redesigned. The same applied to the tees and bunkers. In addition to the renovation itself, it was decided to additionally adapt the course to the modern game and new hitting distances. As far as possible, the course was lengthened for better golfers.

Golfing Optimisation

The slightly elevated "Limburger greens" mit ihren abfallenden Flanken wurden grundsätzlich im Stil beibehalten. Mehrere Grüns wurden lediglich  vergrößert, um mehr unterschiedliche Pinpositions anbieten zu können. Sie gelten daher aber als besonders anspruchsvoll und erfordern ein durchdachtes Anspielen. Zahlreiche Bäume wurden entfernt, variablere Tees vorgesehen – auch um den für die Damen zu langen Platz freundlicher zu machen. Daneben wurden alle Fairwaybunker verlegt und für mehr Strategie neue dazu gebaut, das Beregnungssystem erneuert und das Gras der Fairways abgefräst und durch neue Sorten ersetzt. Einer der renommiertesten deutschen Clubs erhielt somit den passenden Golfplatz.

Fairness

Along with preserving the challenging “turtle greens”, a great deal of attention was paid to making the course fairer and more enjoyable for the average golfer in other areas. Open approach areas for the greens and playable landing zones for the average club member were created.
